Up until sampling Red Leaf's Alfalfa Mint tea, I equated alfalfa with three things: 1) a character from Little Rascals, 2) something eaten by horses, bunnies, and the like, and 3) an ingredient in some obscure vitamins. Thanks to Red Leaf Tea, I have learned that it also works well as an ingredient in tea. Alfalfa mint tea is exactly what you would expect it to be: a blend of mint (in this case, peppermint and spearmint) and alfalfa. By volume, the mints are the major ingredients in this tea. The tea has a crisp and refreshing mint flavor, and also one that I would describe as fairly strong as mints go. This tea tastes like mint tea that has deviated ever so slightly from what mint tea is supposed to taste like. The mintiness greets you at the beginning of the sip, but in the aftertaste is the unmistakeable alfalfa flavor, which is fairly bitter, considerably earthy, yet not altogether unappealing. I must admit that I think I prefer mint tea without the alfalfa, but if you like earthy flavors (this means you, green tea lovers) or you wish to add additional health benefits to your minty brew, then Red Leaf's Alfalfa Mint should be on your list of teas to sample. At $9.99 for a 3.2oz tin of this tea, this tea isn't a tremendous deal, but is certainly affordable and worth shelling out the bucks to sample.

I have forgotten about alfalfa - did you know it’s a legume. This blend helps with digestion, energy, and has plenty of nutrients. When I infused my tisane, the aroma was a nice mint and something else that I couldn‘t put my finger on it. It was different - I guess it was the alfalfa. The blend was more hearty than other herbal blends that I have tried. It had a roasted flavor and the mint was a nice compliment. Here is some incentive to buy from their company: they’re still offering free shipping. As I sit here writing something about them, I just keep feeling some kind of a good vibe from them - It’s just a feeling after looking around their site - I have never ordered from them, but I bet they do have good customer service. Now that I’ve said that - I hope I‘m right.
